My doctor asked me today by IOANA CRISTINA CASAPU

My doctor asked me today:
“Are you fulfilled as a woman?”
I guess not, I blurted,
Without the usual critical thinking
that’s become both my weapon
and my shield.
Tonight
I want to brush down all the weight of the world
off my shoulders.
Lay in the tub
without wondering when I’ll be able to measure
my financial independence
by the quantity of water within
– deep enough to cover both my knees
and my breasts.
How many tears fit inside a 6-feet tall
Chinese bowl? And mostly,
How do we love again
this old body of work,
the soul?
