Primary Colours by RESHMA JOLY

All women write about are feelings;
Our writings are made pink.
These people have pink-washed our pieces and dismissed them.
But we women have had patent over pink for long.
I call for darker shades.
This poem by an emerging author Reshma Joly from India speaks of a recurrent topic on TAST – about the feminist fight of equality and that we must stand united and firm, “try darker shades”. Reshma also plays with the expression “white-washed” to emphasise what’s going on with the equality in so many countries in the world.
